David J. Terrazas

David TerrazasDavid has a wide breadth of experience in business, administration and transactional matters. David joined the Brereton Law Office in 2015 and has prevailed in cases involving contracts, property disputes,  personnel matters, and administrative hearings, including negotiated settlements. David also handles wage and hour matters, and drafts employment-related polices and agreements, such as employee handbooks, employment agreements and severance agreements. In addition, David also conducts internal workplace investigations, advises clients on employment disputes and handles general civil litigation matters. David is a certified workplace investigator with the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI).

Aaron J. Mohamed

Aaron J Mohamed

Aaron is a civil litigator and legal problem solver. He regularly represents individuals, businesses, and families in a variety of complex disputes. Aaron has substantial experience with real estate, business, and trust litigation matters. He also represents and counsels employers with their human resources practices and employee relations. Aaron has tried cases to verdict in both bench and jury trials and has negotiated settlements in dozens of cases.

Paul D. Peterson

Paul PetersonPaul has a wide variety of experience in civil litigation and transactional matters. Paul joined the Brereton Law Office in 2010 and has prevailed in cases involving elder abuse, mortgage fraud, disputes with home owner's associations, employment disputes and trust litigation, including dozens of negotiated settlements. Paul also handles transactional matters such as corporate and LLC formation, contract drafting and review, and estate planning. Paul has personally managed all stages of the litigation process, from discovery, to negotiation, to the trial itself.

Lisa L. Cowan

Lisa L. Cowan, Attorney at LawLisa is a civil litigator, whose principal practice is in personal injury matters, real property disputes, and breach of contract cases.  Lisa is a diligent and empathetic advocate, who offers her clients strategic counsel at all stages of litigation.  

Lisa earned her LL.M. from UC Hastings College of the Law, and was admitted to the California Bar in 2017.  She also holds an MA in Languages (Interpreting and Translating), and an LL.B. in Law from the University of Edinburgh.

Lisa is an affiliate of the American Bar Association, the California Lawyers Association Litigation Section, and an active member of the Santa Cruz County Bar Association, where she serves on the Membership Committee. Having graduated with the Outstanding Achievement in Pro Bono award for providing pro bono legal assistance to vulnerable people across the state, Lisa now volunteers with the California Innocence Project.


Lisa speaks Spanish, French, Italian, and conversational Norwegian.
